Don purchased Ottawa Park in Greencastle in 1967 where 52 lots had already been established. Don found the perfect spot to put several of his new model homes for view right on 231 as a great promotional tool.
In the Spring of 1981 Don built a new sales office on 231 close to the park and in 1985 he became the builder developer of a manufactured housing subdivision called Stardust Hills in Cloverdale. In 2000 he sold the Greencastle business— the park had gone from 52 homes to nearly 100 under Don’s management and ownership.
He then set his focus on Stardust Hills and its less than 100 homes. When the housing crash hit some 10 years ago, Don survived when many didn’t. He purchased homes from tax sales, sheriffs sales and foreclosures, refurbished them and made them move-in ready. This clever scheme kept him going during the time when most were losing out in the housing crash.
Today, Cloverdale’s Stardust Hills has nearly 400 homes! This beautiful subdivision also has five fishing lakes, a clubhouse, swimming pool and 50 plus acres of common ground and an HOA.
