The Arts are everywhere in Putnam County and the Greencastle Arts Council celebrates and assists the arts and many artists throughout Putnam County and surrounding areas. They support both individual and group collaborations, encouraging residents to pursue creative endeavors.
These include free art activities for families at Downtown First Friday events and hosting their Annual Bonne Soirée that highlights local visual, musical and literary artists. The Greencastle Arts Council has collaborated with the Putnam County Public Library, Civic League, Castlemakers, Putnam County Visitors Bureau, and more, all in the effort to promote art in Putnam County. They also bring the arts to many Putnam County events including recent booths at the Greencastle Farmers’ Market and First Friday celebrations, along with, most recently, support for the Greenlight Art Festival in September on Tennessee Street and the Livestock Music Festival, also during September. As a non-profit organization, they rely on loyal patrons for much of their support. Volunteerism, membership and fundraising have allowed the Arts Council to continue its mission to expand the arts in Putnam County.
