The Morales and Matute families opened the Covered Bridge Café together in July, 2019 as a family-friendly hometown café serving house roasted and homemade sandwiches, soups, pastas, salads and more with a focus on building rich flavors from fresh ingredients.
Formerly the Bon Ton Diner, a Bainbridge restaurant with almost 80 years of history, the café keeps up the tradition of serving hearty food in a welcoming and cozy environment. The name of the restaurant was inspired by a mural of a covered bridge painted by local resident, Barb Buckelew, that has survived from the Bon Ton Café days on one of the walls. When Morales and Matute remodeled the space--bringing in fresh paint, flooring, seating, and art—they left the beautiful mural, now a cornerstone of the café.
The Covered Bridge Café is a familyfriendly hometown café serving house roasted and homemade sandwiches, soups, pastas, salads and more with a focus on building rich flavors from fresh ingredients. You’ll find them marinating and slow cooking all our meats on site and making our sauces and soups from scratch.
Located in Bainbridge on State Road 36, directly across from Casey’s, the café is the only family restaurant for almost 20 miles in either direction along the highway.
