Hilltop Restaurant has a rich history dating back to 1948 when it was built. It became a staple in the community and hosted many special events including proms in the 1950’s. The original owner used linen tablecloths and glass goblets. The wait staff wore white dress shirts with bow ties and long white dresses. The original menu had only three meat choices- ham. fried chicken, and steak. The fried chicken was cooked in large iron skillets. As a customer of 50+ years said: “If you had a suitor take you to the Hilltop, he was a keeper!”
The Hilltop has been owned by several husband and wife teams over the years and is now owned by Dennis and Chris Grubb. They have expanded the menu and cook “the old school way” with hand-cut certified angus steaks, legendary fried chicken, fall off the bone bbq ribs, four different fishes, pork chops, roast beef, turkey & stuffing and liver & onions. Everything is served family style— salad, pickled beets, carrots & celery with ranch dressing, real mashed potatoes & gravy, seasoned green beans, corn and homemade yeast rolls with our house orange marmalade. You can get refills on any of those items. The only thing you need to choose is your entreé. Our homemade desserts are also outstanding... blackberry, peach and cherry cobblers, persimmon pudding, Mississippi mud cake, coconut cream pie and peanut butter pie (made with real whipped cream).
The cozy atmosphere with its high ceilings, wood tables and three fireplaces will make you feel right at home. After your meal go outside and enjoy the panoramic views on top of the hill or play a game of corn hole. Outside dining is available in the warmer months.
We can accomodate large groups for a variety of events: club meetings, rehearsal dinners, birthdays, anniversaries and holiday parties. Grubb’s Catering is also available for off-site events.
