Great Taste Awaits Just Off The Square
THE
BLUE DOOR CAFÉ
Located at 24 South Indiana Street, The Blue Door Café is the newest addition to Downtown Greencastle. Located between the Post Office and the Courthouse, the Blue Door is a convenient place to stop by for a quick cup of coffee, though you may feel inclined to stay for awhile.
The relaxed atmosphere includes couches as well as table seating. The art you'll see on the walls comes from community artists, including some pieces from the employees themselves. The Blue Door is also home to live music, featuring a weekly open mic as well as other scheduled local musicians.
If your interest is in good drinks, the Blue Door has it all; from Americanos to Zebra Mochas, Hot Teas to Iced Coffees. The coffee is top notch, roasted right here in Indiana. A variety of flavors are available to make your latte or cappuccino however you like it.
Though coffee and espresso are the main draws, the Blue Door’s deli-style sandwiches are building a reputation of their own. If the extensive specialty sandwich menu doesn't suit you, they have a "build your own sandwich" alternative, which includes the option to grill your sandwich. The soup and the sides are made fresh in the café, and both compliment the sandwiches wonderfully.
Local founders and owners Kate Durham and Dennis Furr opened the café August 24, 2007. Years of working in the food industry, along with a lifetime spent living in Putnam County, inspired the couple to start the Blue Door. Inspiration struck in summer of 2007, and after a couple months of hard work, the dream came true. Kate and Dennis give credit to the friends and family members who helped make the dream possible, with never ending support and volunteered hours of physical labor.
A small, friendly staff and personalized service has resulted in a large regular customer base. The Blue Door fans have been talking, and good word is spreading. If you haven't been in there yourself, I recommend that you try it out soon. The Blue Door Café is carving its niche downtown, and is a very welcome addition to Putnam County. Visit them on-line at www.TheBlueDoorCafe.com or at 24 South Indiana Street, Greencastle, Indiana.
